There is no guideline or rules about what incorporated model ought to be embraced by ICYSC. The coordinated model truly relies upon the organization and the network served with the goal that customers and inhabitants are best profited. Qualities and Limitations of ICYSC The regions of qualities and shortcomings of ICYSC can be deciphered in various types of incorporation as various organizations may apply diverse mix models or ideas. Administration Integration For administration clients, administration combination permits prior mediation, the administration hole is limited and the vilification of customers are diminished. Be that as it may, this may debilitate administrations for bunches with exceptional necessities, for example, minimal youth. For laborers, higher level of coordination can be created with bits of knowledge from associates yet it requires some investment to convey and both outstanding task at hand and weight are expanded. For office, there can be higher adaptability in conveying labor and assets, forestalling the covering of administrations. In any case, it builds the time required and the trouble in the executives and coordination. The nature of oversight might be brought down. There may likewise be lacking space in top periods, including after school hours and ends of the week. These may influence the nature of administration to youngsters and youth. Calling focused Integration Various experts assemble and cooperate. For instance, cops work with social laborers in Police Superintendent Discretion Scheme. Educators help out social specialists to hold school occasions for understudies. With various expert aptitudes and information, the nature of administration can be expanded. Staggered and multi-disciplinary mediations are additionally accessible. Nonetheless, as each calling may have its own qualities and inclinations, it requires a lot of time for conversation, coordinated effort and usage of administrations. If there should be an occurrence of contentions among experts, compromise is required. Thusly, the amount of time offering direct types of assistance to youngsters and youth may get restricted. Assets can be labor, budgetary help proficient assistance or explicit information and abilities. An ordinary model would be volunteer gathering where kids and youth focus works with old focus or recovery focus. Effort work must be completed so as to all the more likely comprehend clientsââ¬â¢ needs. Subsequently, laborers may have higher remaining task at hand and weight. There may likewise be clashes between various sorts of customers. There are additionally some broad confinements of ICYSC model. Models are not normally and extensively assessed. The administration didnââ¬â¢t give away from rules to NGO in transit of usage of joining. Attributable to the administrative grant (for example single amount award), specialist organizations need to satisfy necessity of subsidizing administration understanding so they center more around quantitative yield than subjective result. With fixed measure of aid, offices contend with one another to apply for assets and financing. At the point when administrations are coordinated by subsidizing, it may not fit the network needs well. The singular amount award additionally thwart long haul arranging of administrations and feasible help improvement as nobody can ensure there will be sufficient assets for the occasions in the coming years. Enhancement for Implementation of ICYSC There are a few proposals on the best way to improve the execution of ICYSC model. Also, they are arranged into laborer, organization and approach levels. 1) Worker Level The administration may bolster obligatory preparing to social laborers and other pertinent callings to allow them to ace and update their insight and aptitudes to meet the changing mix condition. Laborers may likewise utilize their available time and working hours to better outfitted themselves to agree to agencyââ¬â¢s mix model. 2) Agency Level The organization can audit network needs normally and every now and again. It can likewise build up an online electronic database for increasingly successful case-the executives and offer among multi-disciplinary groups secretly to give progressively incorporated and constant customer based data. The pool of assets ought to be fortified by creating self-supporting administrations and decreasing the confinement from government financing. 3) Policy Level The legislature ought to acquaint crisis subsidizing with meet new or unexpected network needs and give monetary security to encourage long haul arranging in NGO. FSA ought to be assessed and rebuilt dependent on quality and satisfaction of network needs. ICYSC models ought to be routinely assessed to check whether correction is required with the greeting of proposals from organizations and residents. Albeit various locale may have various requirements, there ought to be some basic requirements for kids and youth in Hong Kong. It is a great idea to synchronize administrations for these regular needs among specialist co-ops in Hong Kong. To wrap things up, tripartite coordinated effort among people in general, the private area and the legislature ought to be upgraded so asset pool will be amplified and self-manageability can be advanced. Bystander Effect And Crises Bystander Effects - 1625 Words
Anthony R. Hudgens March 24, 2016 Case Study #4 Bystander Effect and Crises Bystander Effect and Crises A woman by the name of Kitty Genovese was stalked and stabbed to death in an alleyway of Queens, New York, in 1964 (Pugh Henry). It is reported that there were nearly 40 witnesses who heard her screams for help but failed to do so (Colangelo, 2014). Why is it that some individuals tend to shy away from bad situations in which help is clearly needed? Kittyââ¬â¢s murderer, Winston Mosely, was caught days later and stated, ââ¬Å"I knew they wouldn t do anything, people never doâ⬠(Seedman Hellman, 1974, p. 100). Little did Moseley know that he was onto a subject matter that would soon make waves in social psychology. The inaction of witnesses on that fateful night in 1964 led to research of a phenomenon known as the bystander effect (BE; Latane Darley, 1970). BE refers to social situations in which there is a decreased likelihood of helping in emergencies when others are in the immediate area. The Genovese murder occurred over half a century ago, which begs this question: Is BE prevalent today? Security specialist Bill Stanton (2009) put the question to the test by enlisting the help of a 7 year old girl, her mom, and a police officer. On the streets of New York City, Bill posed as the abductor and the girl as the abductee. The vast majority of people walked by, seemingly indifferent to the emergency situation. Both the mom and the police officer were incredulous. Brand Development and Marketing Assignment Example
Essays on Brand Development and Marketing Assignment The paper "Brand Development and Marketing" is a wonderful example of an assignment on marketing.Week 1: Monday, 31st AugustThe reading set by the teacher was Brand Development and Marketing, Chapter I of the text. This was the first lecture on brand management so the lecturer began by defining what a brand is. Beginning with the formal definition of the term, the lecturer went on to discuss in detail the various elements and attributes of brands. Objectives:Defining brand, its various elements, attributes and importance to consumers and firms, the products that can or cannot be branded, the branding process and management.Case: Great Ute of ChinaDiscussion of Chapter 1Video case: NoneFrom the lecture, I learned what exactly is meant by the term brand. Literally, various attributes like name, term, symbol, design make up what is known as a brand. However, firms consider the brand more broadly, in terms of the companyââ¬â¢s or the productââ¬â¢s reputation in the marketplace. Ther efore, the brand is usually stated with a capital B, since it is crucial for a productââ¬â¢s success.I realized from the lecture that the names of products are not randomly chosen but are the result of a lot of thinking since it will ultimately become a critical factor in the competitive advantage. The brand is not synonymous with the product. While the product satisfies a particular need or want, a brand does not necessarily have to be a tangible good or service but may actually be an idea. The lecturer discussed the term product in great detail. This part of the lecture was a little difficult to understand because it dealt with very abstract ideas. The discussion on the brand was easier to grasp since the lecturer set out the six elements of brands quite explicitly. The example of Great Ute from a Chinese manufacturer showed how a brand is much more than a product because of the differentiation through image even when other manufacturers could offer similar products. Even commo dities, which are not differentiated as products, can be branded through image differentiation.I realized that brands are extremely important both to marketers and consumers. Consumers feel comfortable with a strong brand which makes the consumption decisions easier. To marketers, brands are an easy way to reach customers since it gives a competitive advantage over other producers. However, the brand is a psychological concept and not every product can be branded. The lecturer discussed the products that can be branded. The lecturer discussed the top 10 global brands and commodities that may be branded. Some examples of taglines with which commodities are branded were also discussed. I recall many commodities that have been branded, like Quaker Oats, the TV ads brand oats as a healthy food option like in the skyscraper ad or the sports drink ad. The elements that provide a brand its strength, brand management, challenges, and opportunities were discussed. I learned new terms like str ategic brand management and brand equity.

My left knee has a decade old scar I got from crawling around in the kitchen when I was barely capable of standing. The scar on my right wrist came from stuffing my hand into a peanut can and pulling it out too quickly and too close to the edge. My legs are dressed in an assortment of cuts, scrapes, and scratches that came from years of poking my nose to find out what was in that tree, over that hill, or atop that rock outcrop. Curiosity will forever and always get the best of me. In the lifelong search to know the how and why of everything, a deep desire to create using this knowledge overcame me. It was an afternoon more than ten years ago that I asked my mother to teach me how to sew, and being the persistent child I was, she put down whatever she was doing to show me the basics. Soon the house was full of oddly shaped new friends and their pillows, often stuffed with socks because it was all I had at hand. But that wasnââ¬â¢t enough to satisfy me. I begged my mother to let me use the sewing machine but in her better judgment, she doused my ambition for I was too young and too excited to work a machine whose sole purpose is to rotate a fine needle. Over the course of years, I worked with my hands, cutting Fatherââ¬â¢s old shirts and frustrating myself when I couldnââ¬â¢t get my projects to come out quite as I had envisioned. The discipline engrained from eight years of Catholic school couple with the same eight taking Taikashink, a Japanese style of martial arts, kept with me. The first time I walked into a fabric store my mother quickly lost me among the satin, fleece, cotton, and crushed velvet. When I was finally old enough to get my hands on Motherââ¬â¢s sewing machine, I knew I had found a friend with a very unique per sonality. Some days it would behave and others it would rip to shred the fabric I spent an hour or more carefully cutting. Despite the anger I had with this machine, I learned what made it work and tamed the beast within my Singer Athena. My free time is still consumed with finding new projects and examining clothing to see just how it was put together, and also how I could do it better. With every new project, I learn a different way to do the same thing, bringing me one step closer to perfecting my art. My passion for sewing has gone beyond my home and has come to the point where just a walk down the street has me examining peoples clothing and trying to mentally reconstruct how it could have been made. I enjoy the challenge in taking characters from novels, games, and movies that have signature costumes and designing actual ways to put them together. When I attended the New York Comic Convention, I stopped and questioned anyone who had an interesting costume about where they got the fabric for their accessories and how they perfected the detailing. It is an intention of mine to learn as much as possible from as many people as possible to feed my curiosity and better my abilities in order to find useful applications.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Sexuality in the Hispanic Culture
Cultural Overview Hispanic Americans (also known as Latinos) are individuals of Puerto Rican, Cuban, Mexico, South or Central America, or other Spanish cultures regardless of their race (Foster, 1999). Despite, the differences in terms of nationalities, LGBT Hispanics have many values in common as reflected in their spirituality, altruism, and family values. Regardless of the diversity in their socioeconomic and cultural systems, their contribution to the society is remarkable.Advertising We will write a custom term paper sample on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Sexuality in the Hispanic Culture specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Lesbians, gay, bisexual and transgender sexuality is tough in the Hispanic community. There is a clear definition and rigidity of female and male roles guided by strong cultural taboos. Men are the breadwinners of the family, a duty that requires men to play the father figure role in the fami ly (Eisenberg, 1999; Green Heritage News, 2010, November 26). Women on the other hand have to be submissive and play a subordinate role in the family (Green Heritage News, 2010, November 26). Hispanics therefore has to conform to the societal standards making it difficult for those who would have to play reversed roles given their sexuality. This conformity standard thus makes it difficult for homosexuals to expose their sexuality in spite of their fight for respect in the society and an end to stereotypes. In simple terms, Hispanic community rejects LGBT. Traditional Catholicism in Spain, as was practiced and still is, only permits marital procreative and chastity sexual behavior (Eisenberg, 1999). Catholic teachings thus regard all forms of LGBT sexual behavior sinful, a stain in the church. This rejection of homosexual and bisexual behavior is, however, dangerous as it only aggravate health problems in the society (Corrales and Pecheny, 2010). For instance, while there has been a rising trend in the prevalence of HIV/AIDS among Hispanic men who have sexual relationships with more than one partner, including homosexuals and bisexuals, infections among LGBT remains unreported. The case is the same even for lesbians. Eisenberg (1999) asserts this in his historical overview of homosexuality in Spain, which dedicates twenty pages to lesbian writing in Spain. In his writing, he expresses the fear that female homosexuality has been underexplored owing to the rigidity of cultural and religious values. Attitudes and Preconceived Ideas Jorge Sanchez, a researcher with the family Acceptance Project, said cultural issues make homosexuality a difficult topic among Hispanic families and communities (San Francisco State University, 2009). Family issues are kept secret; a practice, which Hispanics believe protects the harmony of family.Advertising Looking for term paper on social sciences? Let's see if we can help you! Hispanic Americans still live under the macho-patriarchal mentality, which is strong in Hispanic culture (Foster, 1999). During the first one and a half decade after the return to democracy, LGBT issues in Latin America remained in the closet (Corrales and Pecheny, 2010). Hispanics only discussed topics of homosexuality and bisexuality in very small circles. Unquestionably, autocratic rule was not generally gay friendly. In Brazil and Argentina some tiny, but visible, ââ¬Å"homosexual liberation groupsâ⬠emerged in the 1970s and took a beating from authoritarian (Corrales and Pecheny, 2010). In Cuba, LGBT citizens placed themselves in labor camps in the 1960s (Corrales and Pecheny, 2010). However, since the 1990s Hispanics has experienced a significant ââ¬Å"coming outâ⬠that included protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation. In 2003, Rio de Janero state legislation banned sexual orientation (Corrales and Pecheny, 2010). Counseling Approaches and Challenges In treating Hispanic clients, the family is the cornerstone. The family, which may be oneââ¬â¢s relatives or just host to an immigrant, constitutes the support network (Sue and Sue, 2007). New immigrants even find it devastating since they have to cope with the stress resulting from separation from their families and loved ones while at the same time they have to learn a new language, cultural values and behavior (Sue and Sue, 2007). Even though homosexuality exists in Hispanic community, the behavior is only acknowledged privately (Eisenberg, 1999). Furthermore, issues of homosexuality remain in the closet owing to the rigidity of Hispanic culture. Driven by this, Hispanics may prefer being members of the mainstream culture to self-identification as lesbians, gay, bisexual and transgender culture (Eisenberg, 1999). In the mainstream culture, a person who engages in sexual act with a member of the same sex is labeled gay or lesbian depending on his or her gender identity (Sue and Sue, 2007). However, in Hispanic culture some men who play the dominant role during the sexual intercourse refuse to accept the gay label (Foster, 1999). Providers should consider this distinction especially when treating Hispanic clients.Advertising We will write a custom term paper sample on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Sexuality in the Hispanic Culture specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Hispanic culture demands high respect for family ties and values, individual trust, group needs and objectives, some of which are rooted in traditional values relating to Catholic faith. Religion plays a central role in the lives of most Hispanics especial ly Hispanic Americans who hold high respect for religious values. Hispanic Catholic values consider topics of homosexuality and bisexuality sinful thus discouraging open discussion of related issues. Latino clients value the recognition of challenges arising from cultural issues when dealing with sensitive issues like drug abuse. Providers should recognize individual stress arising from family, spiritual and emotional challenges (Sue and Sue, 2007). The same approach should be used when addressing Issues related to LGBT. Most clients are likely to hide information regarding their private life including sexual behavior, addiction and illness. Besides, most families value strong gender roles making it difficult for LBGT Hispanics to speak about their problems in public. For instance, machismo, which is the strong sense masculinity, can make it difficult for gay Hispanics to seek treatment since this is likely to expose their sexuality and make them subjects of stereotypes in the commu nity. Machismo is just one of the many ways stereotypes have affected the rights of women and the minority like gay people in Hispanic community. Other traditional values ascribed to men and women equally make life difficult for lesbians and gay Hispanics. For instance, Hispanic culture views assumption of the opposite gender role as a taboo. Lesbians and gay Hispanics may thus find it difficult to expose their sexual roles. Furthermore, Hispanic culture places men at the centre of the family (Eisenberg, 1999). It would be thus difficult for Hispanic men to accept themselves as members of LGBT culture. If only families would be empowered to accept such critical issues as homosexuality, then it would be easy to deal with problems arising from LGBT behavior. Family heads always play the important role of guidance and counseling. It is, therefore, important to empower the family to be able to discuss issues arising from homosexuality, bisexuality and transgender openly. Most Hispanic A mericans base their leaning on the context as opposed to the process. It is worth noting that the way one presents information greatly influences how the learner receives it. Avoid mentioning direct names when giving examples to minimize chances of embarrassment when discussing sensitive issues of sexuality.Advertising Looking for term paper on social sciences? People always hold high reverence for religious beliefs. Counselors should use spirituality as a background to influence decisions regarding behavior change processes. However, cultural and religious values of procreation, machismo, and family name continuity may be a barrier towards the disclosure of oneââ¬â¢ sexuality. Conclusion Hispanic culture is deep rooted in Catholicism and family values. There is a clear distinction of gender roles and any behavior that goes against is a taboo. Hispanics use stereotypes to insult LGBT Hispanics. It is thus difficult to address the subject of LGBT, which many regard as sinful and ââ¬Å"un-Spanishâ⬠. Knowing oneââ¬â¢s culture is a testament to discovering and learning otherââ¬â¢s culture when counseling. It is important, as a counselor, to understand Hispanic culture including their rituals and relationships. The counseling atmosphere must be comfortable to LGBT and I am sure I will create a gay-friendly environment for clients. I also believe that in my counseling profession, this newly gained knowledge about LGBT issues among Hispanic Americans will be very useful during the counseling assessment process. Harvey the movie essays
Harvey the movie essays The movie that we saw the last week was a film that is hearted as a comedy but if you see it closely it is very clear that is about a serious social commentary of that time, and also of the present time because the same prejudices still exist today. Harvey is a pooka, a bad spirit that manifest itself as a six foot white rabbit. Only Elwood P. Dowd can see Harvey and it is from this that the underlying dark story of an alcoholics friendship with and invisible spirit blends itself in to comic fantasy. The friendship between Elwood P. Dowd and Harvey is implied in the way that Dowd carries an extra coat and hat for Harvey, in the way that he opens doors and lets him walk through and reads to him. The only exception is that Harvey is an imaginary friend but it seems to be like an ideal friendship. When Dowd tells nurse Kelly about how he spends his days in bars, or when he promises his sister that he will go to the western slope water Board to apply, he always includes his friend, saying Harvey and I... Also several times in the play, he phones places looking for Harvey when he was not around. We saw in the movie that this relationship is the most important thing in Dowds life, and that, like the best friendships, Elwood P. Dowd enjoys being with his friend Harvey. This could be one of the themes of the movie, THE FRIENDSHIP. In my personal opinion I thing that perhaps Elwood P. Dowd created Harvey because he felt lonely and that no one really cared to give attention to Elwood. Psychologist also believe that a child who creates an imaginary friend is because they dont have a friend that is physically present for them so the child creates a friend in his mind that no one else can see but himself. The need of having someone there to support you and help you through the good and the bad moments is more than essential; no one should be repressed of having someone else to depend upon. Antigone Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Antigone - Research Paper Example Queen Jocastaââ¬â¢s brother, Creon, then announced that anyone who can answer the sphinx correctly will be married to his sister. Oedipus succeeded the test and eventually became his motherââ¬â¢s husband, fulfilling the prophecies told about him. Oedipus then sired Antigone, Ismene, Polynices and Eteocles. However, after twenty years of reigning in Thebes, the place was again plagued. Wanting to help the citizens of Thebes, Oedipus was committed to solving the cityââ¬â¢s problem which finally led him to know the facts of his birth. Feeling guilty and angry, he then blinded himself and was exiled by his brother-in-law, Creon while his wife and mother hanged herself (Johnston). Consequently, the sons agreed to divide the rule of Thebes but Eteocles banished his brother Polynices. According to Alfred Churchââ¬â¢s ââ¬Å"Battle of Thebesâ⬠though, the latter returned with vengeance and a battle ensued where the brothers both die fighting each other. Recognizing Eteocles as a hero, Creon gave him a decent burial with full military honors while his banished brother, Polynices was disgraced because his uncle ordered that no one should mourn or bury him. Nevertheless, Antigone, the sister of Eteocles and Polynices feels sorry for her brother and vows to bury him. She asks her sister, Ismene, to help her but the latter was very afraid of her uncleââ¬â¢s decree that she refuses her sisterââ¬â¢s request. As a result, Antigone had to bury her brother all alone during the night (Rosenberg). The famed author of ââ¬Å"King Oedipusâ⬠and ââ¬Å"Antigoneâ⬠, Sophocles, was born in 496 B.C and lived to be ninety. He was born to a wealthy family so that he was given the best education during his time. Consequently, he became one of the best writers to survive fame to modern days. He is known to have written more than a hundred plays and ninety-six of which won first prize in the Athenian festivals held in the honor of Dionysius, the god of wine. U nluckily, only a few of his works survived (Rosenberg). Sophocles is recorded not only as a respected literary genius but he is also known for being a good Athenian citizen. Having been borne during the Persian war, a battle fought between the Greek city-states and the Persian Empire, Sophocles became well-informed about wars (Rosenberg). Politics has become important an information that is widely used by Sophocles to give color to his narrations. However, the events during his lifetime were not the only influences to his writing but the existing religious beliefs as well which includes Greek mythology characters as evident in ââ¬Å"Antigoneâ⬠. In addition, he also delves in the personal and familial relationships of his characters. When ââ¬Å"Antigoneâ⬠was written, the Peloponnesian war, the battle between Athens and Sparta, was still ongoing and this perhaps had a great impact on the story. According to historical accounts, the city of Epidamnus sent to inquire from D elphi if they are supposed ask protection from Corinth and an oracle was give that they are supposed to submit to their mother country (Crawley). In relation to Sophoclesââ¬â¢ story, it is obvious how he showed such practice of kings, relating how Creon encouraged Oedipus to ask help from the prophet Teiresias on what to do when their city was plagued. It should also be remembered that the reason

Three Named Map Projections Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Three Named Map Projections - Assignment Example In other words, a map highlights the relationship presents between different elements, such as objects and regions, present in the area that it represents. A map can also be defined as a representation of whole or a portion of Earth on a levelled surface to a specific scale. Maps gained their utility from the fact that they were much easier to carry, utilize as well as store then globes, and significantly eased the development of representation on different scales that were both larger and smaller than those possible on globes (Government of Minitoba, 2011). However, while maps allowed for such enhancement, they also introduced several complexities in the art of map drawing (cartography). One of the major problems that were faced by cartographers was the accurate representation of an ellipsoid object on a flat mapping surface. As a result of research on this topic, map projections were introduced. Map projections are methods which are used to represent whole or part of a sphere or a three-dimensional body on to a planar surface (Riesterer, 2008). In terms of earth mapping, map projections were initially used to transfer the features of a globe , such as coordinates and outlines of land areas on to a piece of map. Initially, light was used to "project" a wire globe onto a flat surface, however, as the research progressed these methods were replaced with more scientific method involving mathematical equations and use of computers (Government of Minitoba, 2011). There are basically three major types of projections, cylindrical, planar and conic which are based on the shape of the flat surface (usually paper) on to which the sphere is projected. A cylindrical projection is one in which lines of longitudes are mapped to equidistant vertical lines while rings of latitude are mapped on to horizontal lines. In a planar projection, the directions from the central point are preserved, and great circles through the central points are shown by straight lines on the map. In the conical projection, the lines of longitudes are projected on to a conical surface joining at the apex of the cone. The lines of latitudes are drawn on the cone as rings. This cone is then cut along any longitude line to obtain the conical projection (Riesterer, 2008). All subsequent developments of map project use these three map projections as their basis. An aspect which is considering during the projection process is the aspect of the shape. The aspect of the map describes how the surface is oriented in relation to the sphere or globe. The surface can be normal, transverse or oblique or can also be tangent or secant to the globe. A projection may also be affected by the approximation that is used to measure the shape of the Earth. Some map projection use the approximation of Earth as a sphere, even though Earth is actually and ellipsoid. The use of sphere vs. ellipsoid for Earth approximation is decided by quantifying the advantages and disadvantages of each approximation me thod. Though a more accurate model of Earth, called geoid, exists however it is no used in mapping due to the significant amount of complexities involved in its use (Government of Minitoba, 2011). Despite the fact that more and more accurate methods are being developed as the research in the field of cartography has progressed, it is important to understand that a globe is the only true representation of the Earth's sphere and all attempts made to project it on to a flat surface introduce some sort of distortion in one way or the other. This distortion can be understood from the example of peeling of an orange. Any attempt made to straighten the peel will result in creation of tear and wrinkles on the surface of the peel creating distortion

International Business Risks Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words
International Business Risks - Essay Example Sales Convention and UNIDROIT Principles of International Commercial Contracts are quite prominent. For the understanding of the international business the legal system of a country is essential, as the business practices of a certain county are being regulated by its laws. These business regulations set out the ways in which the business transactions are to be carried out and also define the liabilities and privileges to the parties involved in the transaction (contract). There are broadly four basic legal systems that are being practiced around the world. Firstly it is the Islamic Law, secondly the Common Law, thirdly the Civil or Coded Law, and lastly the Marxist Legal System. They are discussed as follows: The Islamic law is developed from the interpretation of the Holy Book Quran Majeed and the Hadith i.e. practices of the Prophet Mohammad P.B.U.P. The philosophy of law in Islamic community is greatly different from the one that is practices in the Western Countries. One the most important aspect of the Islamic law is the undesirability of payment or receipt of interest. This prohibition of interest had also largely influenced the business and banking practices, though, the sanctity of contracts, risk sharing, individual's rights and duties, and property rights are welcomed. Moreover, investments in casinos, gambling and alcohol are strictly prohibited. Due to the restrictions discussed above, ... Instead of money borrowing, businesses have evolved to rely on leasing arrangements for the acquisition of fixed assets. In case of banks largely in Iran and also Pakistan fixed service charges are being charged rather than the interest charge, while the depositors on the other hand are being provided with shares rather than interest payments. (Aswathappa, 2003) 2. Socialist Law This system of law has developed from the Marxist socialist system and is being practiced in the former communist countries in some or the other forms. A crucial is being played by ideology. In contrast to the civil law code those are being incorporated by governments of different point of views, the socialist codes are meant for the societal and personal transformation. This system is not a decided set of rules, but actually intends to attain a Communist society. China and Russia are the two countries which come to ones thought when talking of Communism. As there is no set of rules, both of the countries have adopted dissimilar paths for their respective economic and political development. 3. Common Law The fundamental principles of the Common law come from the English law. The common law has evolved over the years from the collective opinion of the judges and from decisions given in individual cases. A majority of commercial law such as contracts, agency and torts are construed from the principles that emerged from individual quarrels that were resolved in antagonist procedure. One of the key aspects of the common law is this that it is being maintained that similar decisions should be given out for similar cases. Due to this reliance on the decisions of the earlier cases enables the businessmen to shape

Into The Wild By Christopher Mccandless - 1769 Words
INTO THE WILD The film Into The Wild tells a story of a young man, named Christopher McCandless, trying to break away from the path society and his parents have paved for him. Throughout the many months he spends on the road he meets many people who have a deep impact on him, even though he probably would not admit to that until the end. As a final test of the change in his mentality and confirmation of his independency from civilization and all the negative aspects it represents, Christopher makes his way to Alaska. The storyline follows two different parts of his life, including flashbacks to his childhood and adolescence, intertwined with the deep disdain he has for his parents. The first timeline represents his journey to Alaska, the preparation that went into it and, most importantly, the motives behind it. The second timeline starts when he is already in Alaska and he finds the ââ¬Å"magic busâ⬠far away from civilization and people. Part 1 Option B Explain how neurons transmit information. ââ¬ËOur knowledge of the neurons function helps us to understand human behaviour.ââ¬â¢ Discuss. The relationship between biology and psychology is a ââ¬Ëgive-and-takeââ¬â¢, shared relationship where one can be used to explain and provide insight into the other, as both are related to the physical body and the mind. For that reason biology holds a much significant and important role in the study of psychology. One of the main areas of psychological studies is the mind therefore this essay aims to explain the biology of how neurons transmit information, this essay also aims to discuss how our knowledge of the ways neurons functions helps us to understand human behaviour. Biology has aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Therefore if the receptors on a postsynaptic neuron do not match the neurotransmitter then this can cause inhibition. Example of psychological disorder that inhibition can cause is schizophrenia, an illness caused by abnormality of certain neurotransmitter found in parts of the brain. Many psychological disorders and aspects of our psychological lives are partly caused by manipulation at the synapses. And therefore have their biological basis and links to the brain. Emotions, motives, moods, cognition and behaviour are all caused when the activity in the neural system is changed or due to malfunction of synapses. For example Parkinson disease is caused by disruption in neurotransmitters. Drugs such as Prozac are used to cure depression, depression which is caused due to change in the brain either in malfunction of the neurotransmitters or the synapse. Sometimes malfunction is caused when neurons reuptake neurotransmitters that have already been released (Toates.2007, p.259) Neurons also play a part in the control of our behaviour. Like when our brain gives signals to the rest of the body to move via neurons. To move our legs, our legs need a large supply of blood therefore the brain needs to send messages to the heart also. Two parts of the nervous system operate to carry out such movement, the semantic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. The semantic nervous system controls the skeletal muscles, thus is

Environmental Contaminants And Its Effects On Children
Parents of newborns have a million things on their minds when it comes to taking care of and protecting their babies. Feeding them, making sure they donââ¬â¢t fall, and trying to keep them from getting sick are just a few of the many overwhelming outside influences that could affect a babies wellbeing. Unfortunately, for many parents, there are several dangerous substances that could have a detrimental effect on a newbornââ¬â¢s health. These pathogens hide in our homes, water sources and our air. Infants are consistently bombarded with environmental contaminants and the ramifications on their health can be serious and lifelong. Unless parents have been educated about these risks, moms and dads often have no idea their babies are constantly in contact with these poisonous toxins. As soon as babies are born, they are immediately exposed to thousands of contaminants in their environment (Rogge, Combs-Orme). Environmental contaminants are found everywhere in our surroundings and scientists know that children are far more vulnerable to their damaging effects. Their sensitive, developing bodies are more likely to hold chemical concentrations in their tissues and cells because of their smaller size (Rogge, Combs-Orme). Most environmental contaminants are can be classified into three categories: microbiological, chemical or radiation (Karr). The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Free Essays
For my book report, I chose to read The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It is a novel set in the twenties when the American economy was soaring (SparkNotesâ⬠¦). We will write a custom essay sample on The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald or any similar topic only for you Order Now I choose this book because I had it in my bookshelf for a long time, but never found time to read it. I had no expectations of this book because I had never heard anything about it, and the summary on the back was un-descriptive. In this paper I will accurately and specifically go into the characters of the book, and present the themes, motifs and symbols of The Great Gatsby. The Great Gatsby has five important characters, all which play very different and crucial roles to the story. Tom, Daisy, Jordan and Gatsby are the characters who are rich, indulgent and selfish (Homeworkâ⬠¦). Nick is the narrator as well as the only one who leaves a modest live, and seems to have a moral compass. I found the characters in The Great Gatsby exaggerated and unrealistic. The group of rich people had great drive, but all had no conscience or morals. Nick is the most morally sound of the group, seemingly because his lack of riches (The Great Gatsby). The main character of the book is also the inspiration of the title, Jay Gatsby (SparkNotesâ⬠¦). He is a complicated character and we get to know him at many different stages of his life. We meet him as extravagantly rich and successful Gatsby, (Ross). He has the means to have extravagant parties every Saturdays, but he seems to be desperately searching for something. We learn about the history of Gatsby When learn that at one point he was called James Gatz (The Great Gatsby). He was poor and dreamed of the day he would have all the money he wanted. He fell in love with Daisy before leaving to fight in the war, but the pressure of parents and society were so great to marry someone in her ââ¬Ëclassââ¬â¢, she broke and married Tom. When Gatsby returned and realized Daisy had married, he was heartbroken. He worked for Dan Cody; a bootlegger involved with illegal things. Gatsby gets into the business and makes his fortune (NovelGuide. com). We learn that Gatsby has parties only because he knows that Daisy lives across the lake and hopes against odds that she will stumble into one and they will be reunited. We see that his moral code is also skewed when he has nothing against having an affair with Daisy. By the end of the story, we conclude that Gatsby is innocent dreamer who puts to much faith in people. He believes that Daisy is flawless, and all she does is disappoint him (SparkNotesâ⬠¦). His trust of Daisy and of unattainably dreams ultimate leads to his death (Homeworkâ⬠¦). The main theme of The Great Gatsby is the disintegration of the American dream in a time of major economic prosperity (SparkNotesâ⬠¦). Although the twenties were a time of wealth, parties, and pleasure; Fitzgerald is showing the moral corruptness of the culture as a whole. Another crucial theme in this book is class of peoples. Daisy marries Tom instead of Gatsby because of his position and wealth. She loves Gatsby, but she would rather have money and a good reputation (Homeworkâ⬠¦). Jordan and Nick try to have a relationship but it doesnââ¬â¢t work because their differences in class. Jordan follows in Daisyââ¬â¢s shoes and has a ââ¬Å"shotgunâ⬠wedding to a rich man instead of Nick. There are two main motifs if this book. There are two peninsulas just outside New York which are crucial to this story, West Egg and East Egg. The East Egg is where the wealthy and ââ¬Å"old aristocratsâ⬠live (SparkNoteâ⬠¦). Daisy, Tom and Jordan live there. Nick and Gatsby live on West Egg; this is where the newly rich live. These are the showy rich who the East Egg people look down on. The geography of the country is also important. We know this by how the book highlights the differences between living out West and in the East. The East is grouped with New York and represents the moral decay of the wealthy while the West is seen as a more traditional and conservative which values morals and truth (SparkNotesâ⬠¦). We see two main symbols in this book. When Nick first sees Gatsby, he doesnââ¬â¢t introduce himself because Gatsby is staring intensely across his lake at a green light. We later learn that that light is on Daisyââ¬â¢s dock, and that Gatsby watches it to feel connected with her. This shows how he looks forward in his life, and believes in his dream. He has drive to get what he wants, without being afraid to work and strive for it (SparkNotesâ⬠¦). There is a billboard at a garage in the Valley of Ashes (the road between East and West Egg) that has giant spectacled eyes painted on. These are the eyes of Doctor T. J. Eckleburg, and are an ad for his practice. These eyes watch all the characters at different times and may represent the eyes of God (SparkNotesâ⬠¦). We see this because they make Tom uncomfortable when going to visit his mistress and because a man points to them saying, ââ¬Å"God sees everythingâ⬠(128). Although no one is ever punished, these eyes are the reminder of guilt for characters at different times (Homeworkâ⬠¦). There is no obvious spirituism to show a fear of, or lack of fear, in a god. Though not specially shown, the lack of morals shows the characters lack of trust in God. All wealthy characters have carelessness for others. When Nick tells Jordan she is an bad driver and should stay off the roads because she will hurt other drivers she says, ââ¬Å"theyââ¬â¢ll keep out of my wayâ⬠(63). When Daisy hit Tomââ¬â¢s mistress with her car, she did not even attempt to go back and see the damage she did, just drove on like nothing happened. The rich can afford to run away from their problemsââ¬â so they no longer have the necessity for god when they can solve all there problems. This paper accurately went into the characters of the book, and presented the themes, motifs and symbols of The Great Gatsby. I did not enjoy this book because the plot was slow and the storyline weak. This book was hard to identify with because it was in such a different time then I live. I didn`t enjoy this book and would not recommend it to anyone. How to cite The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Essay examples

Opinion on Afremovs Water Pastel Painting Essay Example For Students
Opinion on Afremovs Water Pastel Painting Essay First of all, I chose Leonie Foreman because admire the quality of his work. Before chose him as my subject, I did check out other artists like David Clerical who specializes in photography, portraits, landscapes film, There is Marcel Christ as well, whose torte is still elite and also dabbles in personal work and film, Benedict Regard on the other hand, does a little of everything such as photography, landscapes, epic set-ups and still life. I had to really think hard on Sam Logan because her line of art is my weakness. She is a stylist thereby her expertise is in clothing designs, set designs, and also experiments on still life. L almost picked her but Foremost work moved me more because it communicated admire artists so much since dont think have one artistic bone in to me. My body however hard try. I am in awe of people who looks at a picture, picks up a pencil then just starts drawing with such ease and confidence. Foreman paints With such emotion and inspiration that everyone can relate to it. His use of nature, surroundings and the combination of colors is so unpredictable that t surprises his viewers. Melody Of the Night depicts that the cover Of darkness when night falls doesnt mean that the exciting day is over. It shows that it only has begun but now in a different setting at a different time. It makes one realize that dusk can be breathtakingly beautiful when an explosion of contrasting colors are used to create an unforgettable heartwarming scene. I believe that what makes Foremost work very effective is that it isnt difficult to grasp. Any individual can relate to his work and appreciate its beauty due to its simplicity. It likewise sends a message that even darkness can bring about a lively scene with the correct use of colors and various painting techniques. The technique I liked most that Foreman utilized a lot in this painting is stippling. He used it to texture botanical drawings that created the appearance to depth. He did in such a way that it made the whole painting look elegant and life-like, Composition was another technique Foreman used that impressed me. It made the painting look put together and organized. Melody of the Night contains line, shape, arm, space, texture, value and color. He manipulated these elements and created something quite amazing. The effectiveness of Foremost work depends on the individual whys viewing it since everyone has their own opinion and interpretation of any kind of art. I personally, am very impressed with this particular painting because see that the techniques he used were quite effective. How does one measure the effectiveness Of an artwork to an individ ual who doesnt know much about art? I measure it on how affects my senses usually emotionally. It would be great if can touch and feel its texture and composition to give me an idea of the depth of the painting, however that isnt possible in this case. Using my sense Of sight tells me that he put his own feelings into this painting because it exudes his personal touch and his attention to detail. He took advantage of the darkness to bring out an explosion of hues and colors that one wouldnt expect. He brought light and life to a scene that could very well be ordinary or even boring.

Should Australia Introduce Any Tax Or GST Changes Essays
Should Australia introduce any tax or GST changes? Matchmaker.com: Sign up now for a free trial. Date Smarter! Should Australia introduce any tax or GST changes? Why do we need taxes? Taxation makes up majority of our government's income. With this income the government can provide us with proper infrastructure and social services for little, if no cost at all. These include Medicare, social security and education. (These facilities are known as recurrent expenditures because it is needed time after time.) Other expenditures include transportation, lighting, recreation etc. These services are granted to us at no costs. In many 3rd world countries where taxation is low or doesn't exist, all of these services are to come out of one's own pocket. Over the many centuries, in which taxation was existent, people have cheated and avoided paying these taxes. Nowadays people with high-income put their money into trusts, superannuation, or incorporate it into businesses. Businesses would try and receive more cash transactions. This has led to a decrease in our government's revenues, thus leading to a tax reform in hope of a more effective result. What makes a good tax system? There are four elements in a successful tax system. They are effectiveness, efficiency, equitability, and simplicity. 1) Effectiveness: is the performance compared to the desired effect. E.g. the number of people who pays tax, how much tax is received. 2) Efficiency: is the cost of running the system. The system may be very effective with a million tax officers, but it would cost millions to hire so many people. 3) Equitability: is the fairness of the system. This is an impossible goal to achieve. From different people's point of views, the system will always be unfair to them in some way. Not to mention the tax cheats. The best solution is to broaden the number of people who pay the tax, which is only fair. 4) Simplicity: A tax system should never be too complexed, it is otherwise not efficient neither understandable. The income tax Act that just started off at just 120 pages in 1936 is now over 3300 pages and has doubled in size over the last 7 years. A complex system means that those who can afford expensive tax advice minimize their tax. But those that can't, pay the full share. It is impossible to have a system where all four elements are satisfactory. Where a system may be effective and efficient it will not be equitable or simple. It is impossible to fit the whole population all under one roof. Under these circumstances the government proposed a new way of taxation- GST. What is GST? GST is a tax on the goods and services that each and everyday households consume. Tax is collected at each stage of production and distribution, but a credit is given for the GST on inputs. Refunds are given for GST on exports. Therefore, only households bear this tax. Australia currently has a WST in place of a GST. WST is whole sales tax this tax is levied on the whole sale price and is collected by wholesalers. A GST is in fact a VAT-value added tax. Meaning it is levied at each stage of production and distribution. Over one hundred countries in the world have a GST/VAT, but only six nations including Australia have a WST. The advantages and disadvantages of a GST It is hard to say whether the GST is favorable or adverse because the government hasn't yet proposed the whole system, the exemptions and the exact figures of taxation. The following is only speculation by the many supporters and those who disapprove. ADVANTAGES 1) Lower taxes means business can buy and sell more competitively overseas. 2) The higher cost of prices will slow down inflation. 3) At each level of production and sale, except sale to a consumer, a rebate is claimable. The paperwork for these claims helps to enforce compliance. This would also stop tax evasion. 4) It will hit the black economy because the money earned will be used for consumption. 5) Replace existing distortional indirect taxes 6) Prices on some good and services will fall instead of rising. E.g. petrol 7) Less income tax gives people more incentive to work. 8) The reduction in many taxes that were of a heavy burden to businesses will be abolished thus giving the businesses more power to employ extra workers. These taxes include the WST and many other excise duties such as the taxes on many house hold goods. 10) The GST will be able to with stand tomorrow's many challenges which the current system will not be able to handle. E.g. an aging population. 11) Current indirect taxes are levied on
